Question 1

What is PeopleOnMap?

Accepted Answer

PeopleOnMap is a global map of digital presence — a digital atlas of humanity. It's a world map where people can place their digital billboards, connect their physical presence with their profile, and show all the places online where they want to be found. Every point on the map is someone's online story. It's a platform that bridges the real world with the digital world. The map also features billboards of the most recognizable internet creators from around the world — from YouTubers to musicians and podcasters.

Question 2

What is People Discovery?

Accepted Answer

People Discovery is a new category defined by PeopleOnMap. You discover people, not lists. It's spatial discovery on a world map — not stream-based, algorithmic, or catalog-based. PeopleOnMap doesn't browse a list or a network of friends. It browses the world. It's a completely different model.

Question 3

How is PeopleOnMap different from social media?

Accepted Answer

In classic social media, an algorithm decides who you see and visibility depends on reach. On PeopleOnMap, users discover people on the map themselves, and visibility depends on presence on the map. Every profile has equal chances — selected formats aren't promoted, and the way to discover is simple and understandable, without high unpredictability.

Question 4

Does PeopleOnMap use algorithms to decide visibility?

Accepted Answer

No. Profile visibility isn't decided by any hidden, changing algorithms. On PeopleOnMap, users find you thanks to your billboard, location and interests — not because the algorithm happens to promote you. Visibility is based on the map, not on the whims of algorithms. Every person has equal chances of being noticed by others.

Question 5

What is 'Message to the World'?

Accepted Answer

Message to the World is your personal message to all humanity. You can create it using text, a photo, an audio recording, or video — but you must choose one of these options. Your message appears on your profile and on your map pin, so anyone who discovers you on the map can hear your voice. Your voice matters — someone can hear you, you are not anonymous, you are part of humanity.

Question 6

What is 'My Online World'?

Accepted Answer

My Online World is a section of your profile where you can connect all the places where you exist online: social media, messengers, websites, blogs, portfolios, professional profiles, channels, games, and any other links. It's your digital world collected in one place.

Question 7

Why put your profile on the map?

Accepted Answer

The map gives your digital presence a physical and human context. You're not just 'username123' — you're a person who also exists in the real world. PeopleOnMap lets you show where in the world you are, while maintaining full control over your location privacy. Find your place on the map of the Internet.

Question 8

What do I need to set up my profile?

Accepted Answer

The minimum required to complete your profile is: your display name (in the Basic Info tab) and at least one social media platform (in the My Online World tab). Everything else — profile media, map pin, location, profession, interests, gender, age — is optional and can be added anytime.

Question 9

Can I add any website?

Accepted Answer

Yes! PeopleOnMap lets you add any public URL. If the platform isn't automatically recognized, the link will be added as a custom link with your own name and category. We never block unknown domains.

Question 10

Do I need to connect or authenticate social media accounts?

Accepted Answer

No. You don't need to connect or authenticate any social media account. Just add the public URL to your profile. PeopleOnMap is a link directory, not a social media integration.

Question 11

Can I hide my exact location?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You have full control over your location privacy. You can use IP-based geolocation (approximate), search for a specific place, or enable the 'Mark area' feature to show an area with a custom radius instead of a precise pin. Your exact coordinates are never exposed unless you choose to share them.

Question 12

How does the 'Mark area' feature work?

Accepted Answer

In the Location tab, toggle on 'Enable area mode' and set a radius (1-50 km). Instead of a precise pin, other users will see a circle representing your area. Your pin is centered within the circle, so your approximate location is visible but not the exact point.

Question 13

Can I hide individual links?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each link in My Online World has its own visibility setting. You can set a link as public, visible only to logged-in users, or private. So you can show e.g. Instagram and LinkedIn publicly, but Discord only to logged-in users.

Question 14

Is PeopleOnMap a social network?

Accepted Answer

Not in the traditional sense. PeopleOnMap is not a copy of Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn. We don't build the product around a post feed. The central elements remain: map + person + digital billboard + online world.

Question 15

Can I add multiple profiles from the same platform?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can add as many links as you want, including multiple links from the same platform. For example, you can add two YouTube channels or two Instagram profiles if you want to show them in your digital billboard.

Question 16

Is PeopleOnMap free?

Accepted Answer

Yes — creating a profile, your own billboard on the map, chat and discovering people are free. Optionally, you can increase your billboard's visibility with paid plans (including Country and Global) that extend your presence across the world map.

Question 17

Can I message people on PeopleOnMap?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can send a message to anyone on the map directly through the built-in chat. No matching required — just click on a person's profile and start a conversation.

Question 18

Can I translate profiles?

Accepted Answer

Yes! When viewing a profile card on the map, click the 'Translate' button below the bio. The text will be translated into your interface language using AI. Click 'Show original' to switch back.

Question 19

Is PeopleOnMap for creators, influencers and media professionals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. PeopleOnMap is a global interactive map of Internet users, creators, influencers, bloggers, writers, podcasters and media professionals. Put all your social media profiles, channels, blogs, podcasts and websites on an interactive world map. Promote your work, music, videos, writing, podcasts and social profiles in a brand new way. Increase your global reach and popularity by reaching new audiences beyond the limits of single platforms and their algorithms. Don't make your online presence dependent on one app.

Question 20

Who else is PeopleOnMap for?

Accepted Answer

For writers and authors — show the world your books, stories and publications, build a global community of readers and reach audiences beyond your country. For educators and course creators — share knowledge globally, reach students from all over the world. For trainers, mentors, coaches and experts — acquire new clients, training participants and build your personal brand independently of one platform. For YouTubers, TikTokers, streamers, podcasters, bloggers, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, entrepreneurs and influencers. Let the whole world discover your digital creativity.

Question 21

What are Popular platforms?

Accepted Answer

Popular platforms is a map discovery feature. Click the 'Popular platforms' button on the map to open a panel of the most popular social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Discord, Reddit, GitHub and more). Select a platform to instantly see all users on the map who use that platform — a quick way to discover people who share your digital world.

Question 22

What are Shared platforms?

Accepted Answer

Shared platforms is a map visualization that shows lines connecting your profile to other users who share your online space — people who use the same platforms as you and follow the same creators. The lines are colored by the platform that connects you, and animated dots travel along each line toward your pin. It's a visual representation of your digital connections across the real world.

Question 23

What is Platform availability?

Accepted Answer

Platform availability is a map layer that shows the geographic reach of social media platforms. Select a platform and see a world map highlighted by the regions where that platform is most popular and available. It helps you understand the global footprint of your favourite platforms.

Question 24

Can I use Bitmoji as my map pin?

Accepted Answer

Yes! In the 'Map Pin' tab of your profile setup, you can choose Bitmoji as your pin type. Create your Bitmoji avatar at bitmoji.com, then paste the avatar image URL into PeopleOnMap. Your Bitmoji will appear as your map pin, giving your digital presence a personal, cartoon-style identity.

Question 25

Is there an API for developers?

Accepted Answer

Yes! PeopleOnMap offers a public API that gives developers access to data about creators and public billboards on the world map. Create a free API key in the 'API for developers' section and use it to search creators, their platforms and public profiles from your own applications and bots. Each key allows up to 500 requests per day per endpoint. Open the 'API for developers' option in the user menu or go to the API dashboard to read the full documentation.
